Frequently Asked Questions
Q, Do you come to the bride on the morning of the wedding?
A, Yes , I travel to the location both on the day of the wedding and for the pre-wedding consultation or trial, although consultations can if you prefer be held at my studio at home.
Q, What products do you use?
A, Skin care wise I use Gemma Kidd, Estee Laude, Dermatologica, MAC, Clinique, Kiehls and Bobbi Brown. Make up wise I use Gemma kidd, Bobbi Brown, YSL, Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden and Mac.
Q, What happens in the consultation?
A, I ask loads of questions, apply the make up and then take a digital photo of the finished result. I then see if I need to make any changes to your make up as you need to look perfect on the day.
Q, Do you only do Bridal make up?
A, No not at all, I also provide make up for prom nights, evening glamour wear make up, portrait shots, hen parties, ladies pamper nights and even teenage parties are also very popular along with make up tuition.
Q,Can my make up last all day without a touch up?
A, Wedding make up is a specialised field which requires a lot of time and effort. The products that I use are high end, so I know that it will last and look as good at the end of the day as at the beginning. The lipstick /gloss is the one thing that you will have to retouch.
Q, Why should I use a professionally trained make up artist?
A, This is the one day of your life that you will be the centre of attention and your make up will leave a lasting impression on your photos and video. The one mistake that brides make is that they think that they can get away with using their every day make up look. This is not possible as taking into account the lightness of the dress, hair style, accessories you need everything to tie in perfectly, this will not only ensure you looking beautiful but will give you so much confidence on your big day you will positively shiine.
Q,When should I book my wedding make up.?
A, I am finding that brides have started to book well in advance to avoid disappointment and to be well organised. Therefore, I strongly suggest that if it is a summer wedding, 6 months to 1 year ahead.
Q,How far do you travel?
A, I travel 30 miles from my home free of charge, anything further I charge travelling cost, but distance is not an object, I do many weddings in London, Essex and Suffolk
Q, I don’t usually wear much make up and I am afraid that I will end up caked in make up!
A, At the end of the day you are my customer and therefore must be happy with everything that I do for you.All I can do is to advise you and guide you in your choices.
Q, When do I pay?
A, I ask for a small deposit on booking and then a full settlement a week befor the wedding day.
Q,I am getting married abroad what can I do?
A, Well if you don't want to take me with you, I can provide you with an intense 2 hour make up session. I will go through with you step by step your make up look and provide you to take away a personalised face chart and a digital photo.
Q,Should I have my make up or my hair done first?
A, Ideally your hair should be done first.
Q,How many trials do I get?
A, One trial is included in the price, however if you want more then this is not a problem. extra trials are availabe at an added cost.
Q,Who ideally should have their make up professionally applied?
A, I would suggest all of those that will have prominence in the photos, bridesmaids of course and these days it is becoming increasingly popular for the mother of the bride to be pampered also. This gives her time to relax, and enjoy the day before it has even started. Many brides treat their mother as a way of saying thank you. This can also be the same for the mother-in-law.
